Exhibition Statement:
With the rise of thrifting, the fashion revolution occurring on TikTok, and many people scrolling during quarantine, discovering clothes they would have never considered wearing before COVID, many people have begun discovering their style. This style is no longer based on archaic descriptions of body type and what brands are most popular but based on personal aesthetics and what clothes fit you best. Many people now take the time to find unique pieces specific to their tastes and value the time it takes to thrift and find pieces. Inadvertently, they have created their collections, much like the ones designers make every season. I have photographed these “collections”. I wanted to focus on the specialization of personal style and the pieces people have collected while shooting them in a style similar to the way designers shoot their collections.
